वाक्यवज्रैरनुपमैर्निर्भिन्दन्निव चाशुगैः ।
कैकेय्या सर्वमर्माणि सुमन्त्रः प्रत्यभाषत ॥ ॥२-३५-४॥
Vākyavajrairanupamairnirbhindanniva cāśugaiḥ । Kaikeyyā sarvamarmāṇi sumantraḥ pratyabhāṣata ॥ ॥2-35-4॥
Translation
Sumantra spoke to Kaikeyi, piercing all her vital spots as if with incomparable thunderbolt-like sentences and swift arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वज्र के समान कठोर और अनुपम बाणों के समान वाक्यों से कैकेयी के सब मर्म-स्थानों को भेदते हुए सुमन्त्र ने कहा।
English Commentary
The imagery intensifies from arrows to Vajra (thunderbolts). Sumantra targets Kaikeyi's marmas (vital points)—her conscience, her reputation, and her dharma. He is not holding back. In ancient diplomacy, speaking harshly to a queen is forbidden, but Sumantra breaks this protocol because the tragedy unfolding is unprecedented. He aims to shatter her ego with the brute force of truth, hoping against hope to reverse the situation.

सुमन्त्र का आक्रमण अब और तीखा हो गया है। उनके वचनों की तुलना 'वज्र' (इन्द्र का अस्त्र) से की गई है, जो कठोरता का प्रतीक है। 'मर्म' का अर्थ है शरीर के वे कोमल स्थान जहाँ चोट लगने से प्राण जा सकते हैं; यहाँ इसका अर्थ कैकेयी के चरित्र, कुल और अंतरात्मा पर प्रहार करना है। सुमन्त्र ने कूटनीति छोड़ दी है और अब वे सीधे, कठोर सत्य बोल रहे हैं ताकि कैकेयी को अपनी भूल का अहसास हो सके।
