यश्यास्तव पतिस्त्यक्तोराजा दशरथः स्वयम् ।
भर्ता सर्वस्य जगतः स्थावरस्य चरश्य च ॥ ॥२-३५-५॥
Yaśyāstava patistyaktorājā daśarathaḥ svayam । Bhartā sarvasya jagataḥ sthāvarasya caraśya ca ॥ ॥2-35-5॥
Translation
"You, who have abandoned your husband, King Dasharatha himself, the sustainer of the entire world, moving and unmoving..."

(सुमन्त्र बोले) "जिस तुमने अपने पति, जो स्वयं राजा दशरथ हैं और इस समस्त चराचर जगत के स्वामी हैं, उनका परित्याग कर दिया है..."
English Commentary
Sumantra opens his verbal assault with a grave accusation: abandonment of the husband. He juxtaposes Dasharatha’s status as the lord of the universe (Bhartā sarvasya jagataḥ) with his helplessness before his wife. By forcing the King to choose between truth (his boon) and his life (Rama), Kaikeyi has effectively forsaken her duty as a wife. Sumantra highlights the irony that the protector of the world cannot protect himself from his wife's machinations.

सुमन्त्र का पहला आरोप: पति-त्याग। वे कैकेयी को याद दिलाते हैं कि दशरथ केवल उनके पति नहीं, बल्कि 'जगत के भर्ता' (पालनहार) हैं। सुमन्त्र यह तर्क दे रहे हैं कि कैकेयी ने अपने हठ के कारण राजा को ऐसी स्थिति में डाल दिया है जो मृत्युतुल्य है, जो कि पति को त्यागने जैसा ही है। जो राजा पूरे विश्व का भरण-पोषण करता है, आज अपनी ही पत्नी द्वारा निराश्रित कर दिया गया है। यह कैकेयी के 'पातिव्रत्य' धर्म पर सीधा प्रश्नचिह्न है।
