तस्यैतत्क्रोधसम्युक्तमुक्तम् श्रुत्वा वराङ्गना ।
कैकेयी द्वि गुणम् क्रुद्धा राजानम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥२-३६-१५॥
Tasyaitat krodha samyuktam uktam śrutvā varāṅganā |
Kaikeyī dvi guṇam kruddhā rājānam idam abravīt ॥2-36-15॥
Translation
Hearing those words filled with anger, the beautiful woman Kaikeyi, now twice as enraged, spoke thus to the King.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा के उस क्रोधयुक्त वचन को सुनकर, सुंदरी कैकेयी दुगने क्रोध में भर गई और राजा से यह बोली।
English Commentary
Instead of being chastened by the King's rebuke, Kaikeyi becomes "doubly enraged." This demonstrates her relentless determination and refusal to be shamed. The term varangana (beautiful woman) is used ironically here; her physical beauty remains, but her actions are grotesque. She perceives Dasaratha’s attempt to equip Rama as a loophole that threatens her son's future. Fueled by this double anger, she prepares to deliver a devastating counter-argument based on family history to silence the King completely.

राजा के क्रोध से डरने या लज्जित होने के बजाय, कैकेयी का क्रोध 'द्विगुण' (दोगुना) हो गया। यह एक हठी स्वभाव का लक्षण है जहाँ व्यक्ति अपनी गलती मानने के बजाय और अधिक आक्रामक हो जाता है। 'वराङ्गना' (सुंदरी/श्रेष्ठ अंगों वाली) शब्द का प्रयोग यहाँ फिर से उसकी बाहरी सुंदरता और आंतरिक क्रूरता के बीच के अंतर को रेखांकित करता है। कैकेयी को लगा कि राजा तकनीकी तर्कों का सहारा लेकर उसके वरदान की मूल भावना (भरत का निष्कंटक राज्य) को नष्ट कर रहे हैं, इसलिए उसने अब एक ऐतिहासिक तर्क (precedent) देने का निर्णय लिया।
