Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ये च एनम् उपजीवन्ति रमते यैः च वीर्यतः ।
तेषाम् बहु विधम् दत्त्वा तान् अपि अत्र नियोजय ॥ ॥२-३६-४॥
Ye ca enam upajīvanti ramate yaiḥ ca vīryataḥ । Teṣām bahu vidham dattvā tān api atra niyojaya ॥ ॥2-36-4॥
Translation
And those who depend on him for their livelihood, and those with whom he delights in feats of strength (wrestling/weapons), give them ample wealth and appoint them to accompany him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जो लोग राम पर आश्रित हैं और जिनके साथ राम अपने पराक्रम (कुश्ती/शस्त्र अभ्यास) से मन बहलाते हैं, उन्हें बहुत सा धन देकर इस यात्रा में नियुक्त करो।
English Commentary
Dasharatha attends to Rama's emotional and social needs. He orders that Rama's dependents and his sparring partners (those he enjoys viryatah - feats of valor/strength with) be hired to accompany him. The King is willing to pay them heavily to ensure Rama has companionship and familiar faces. This highlights Dasharatha’s fear of Rama becoming lonely or depressed in the forest. He wants to recreate the royal gymnasium and court atmosphere in the wild.

राजा दशरथ राम के व्यक्तिगत जीवन का भी ध्यान रख रहे हैं। वह राम के मित्रों, सहचरों और उन पहलवानों या योद्धाओं को साथ भेजने का आदेश देते हैं जिनके साथ राम अभ्यास करते थे। दशरथ जानते हैं कि वन का एकाकीपन राम को खलेगा, इसलिए वे उनके सामाजिक दायरे को भी साथ भेजना चाहते हैं। 'धन देकर' भेजने का अर्थ है कि दशरथ उनका वेतन और खर्च वहन करेंगे, ताकि वे राम पर बोझ न बनें। यह पिता की सूक्ष्म चिंता (micro-management of care) को दर्शाता है।
