अश्रुसंपूर्ण्नेत्रा च धर्मज्ञा धर्मदर्शिनी ।
गन्धर्वराजप्रतिमम् भर्तारमिदमब्रवीत् ॥ ॥२-३७-११॥
Aśrusampūrṇnetrā ca dharmajñā dharmadarśinī |
Gandharvarājapratimam bhartāramidamabravīt ॥2-37-11॥
Translation
With eyes full of tears, the knower of Dharma and the perceiver of righteousness (Sita) spoke thus to her husband, who resembled the King of Gandharvas.
हिंदी अनुवाद
नेत्रों में आंसू भरे हुए, धर्म को जानने वाली और धर्म का पालन करने वाली सीता ने गन्धर्वराज के समान अपने पति से यह कहा।
English Commentary
Sita is overwhelmed with tears (ashrusampurnnetra). Yet, the poet reminds us of her strength by calling her dharmajina (knower of duty). Her tears are not of rebellion against the exile, but of the immediate distress of the situation. Repeating the comparison of Rama to a Gandharva emphasizes her focus on him. She turns to him because in this alien situation, he is her only guide. It is a moment of vulnerability where the "knower of Dharma" struggles with the practicalities of ascetic life.

सीता रो रही हैं, भय या दुख से नहीं, बल्कि संकोच और विवशता से। वाल्मीकि उन्हें 'धर्मज्ञा' और 'धर्मदर्शिनी' कहते हैं—वे जानती हैं कि पति का साथ देना उनका धर्म है, चाहे वेष कैसा भी हो। फिर भी, वल्कल पहनना एक तकनीकी और व्यावहारिक समस्या है जिसके लिए वे तैयार नहीं थीं। आँखों में आंसू लिए वे राम से मदद मांगती हैं। यह नारी सुलभ लज्जा और पतिव्रता धर्म का अद्भुत संगम है।
