रामम् प्रेक्ष्य तु सीतायाः बध्नन्तम् चीरमुत्तमम् ।
अन्तःपुरगता नार्यो मुमुचुर्वारि नेत्रजम् ॥ ॥२-३७-१५॥
rāmam prekṣya tu sītāyāḥ badhnantam cīramuttamam |
antaḥpuragatā nāryo mumucurvāri netrajam ॥2-37-15॥
Translation
Seeing Rama tying that ascetic bark dress on Sita, the ladies of the inner palace began to shed tears of grief.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम को सीता के शरीर पर वह तपस्वी वस्त्र बाँधते हुए देखकर, अंतःपुर की स्त्रियाँ अपनी आँखों से आँसू बहाने लगीं।
English Commentary
The sight of Rama dressing his beloved wife in rough bark is the breaking point for the women of the household. While they were struggling to accept Rama's departure, seeing Sita—who was never part of the exile demands—forced into this garb is unbearable. The collective weeping represents the shattered heart of the palace. It underscores the tragedy that the prince, who should be adorning his wife with jewels, is instead equipping her for a life of hardship.

अंतःपुर की नारियों के लिए यह दृश्य असहनीय था। वे राम के वनवास जाने के दुःख को किसी तरह सहन कर रही थीं, किन्तु सुकोमल सीता को तपस्विनी के भेष में देखना उनकी सहनशक्ति से बाहर था। एक राजकुमार अपने ही हाथों से अपनी राजकुमारी को वनवासी बना रहा है—यह दृश्य करुणा की पराकाष्ठा है। उनके आँसू (वारि नेत्रजम्) केवल दुःख नहीं, बल्कि उस अन्याय के प्रति मौन विरोध भी व्यक्त कर रहे थे जो कैकेयी के हठ के कारण हो रहा था।
