कुरु नो याचनाम् पुत्र! सीता तिष्ठतु भामिनी ।
धर्मनित्यः स्वयम् स्थातुम् न हीदानीम् त्वमिच्छसि ॥ ॥२-३७-१९॥
kuru no yācanām putra! sītā tiṣṭhatu bhāminī |
dharmanityaḥ svayam sthātum na hīdānīm tvamicchasi ॥2-37-19॥
Translation
"Grant our request, son! Let the beautiful Sita stay here. Since you are ever devoted to Dharma, you yourself do not wish to stay now."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे पुत्र! हमारी यह प्रार्थना स्वीकार करो। सुंदरी सीता यहीं रहे। चूँकि तुम धर्म में स्थित हो, इसलिए तुम स्वयं तो अब यहाँ रुकना चाहोगे नहीं।"
English Commentary
Recognizing that Rama cannot be swayed from his duty (dharmanitya), the women pivot their strategy. They accept his departure as inevitable but plead for him to grant them this one concession regarding Sita. It is a poignant negotiation: "We know you won't stay, but please, leave her." They appeal to his mercy, hoping he will soften his stance for the sake of his wife's well-being, even if he won't for his own.

यह माताओं और परिजनों की अंतिम गुहार है। वे राम के स्वभाव को भली-भाँति जानती हैं—वे जानती हैं कि राम "धर्मनित्य" हैं और पिता के वचन को तोड़कर अयोध्या में नहीं रुकेंगे। इसलिए वे राम को रोकने का प्रयास छोड़कर, केवल सीता को रोकने की याचना कर रही हैं। "भामिनी" शब्द सीता के सौंदर्य और सुकुमारता को इंगित करता है, जिसे वन की धूप और धूल नष्ट कर देगी। यह विवशता का स्वर है।
