यद्यपि त्वम् क्षितितलाद्गगनम् चोत्पतिष्यसि ।
पितुर्व्म्शचरित्रज्ञः सोऽन्यथा न करिष्यति ॥ ॥२-३७-३१॥
yadyapi tvam kṣititalādgaganam cotpatiṣyasi |
piturvamśacaritrajñaḥ so'nyathā na kariṣyati ॥2-37-31॥
Translation
"Even if you were to spring from the earth to the sky (in a tantrum), he (Bharata), who knows the character of his father's lineage, will not act otherwise."

"भले ही तुम (हठ करके) पृथ्वी से आकाश में ही क्यों न उछल जाओ, अपने पिता के वंश के चरित्र को जानने वाला वह (भरत) इसके विपरीत कुछ नहीं करेगा।"
English Commentary
Using the hyperbolic imagery of "jumping from earth to sky," Vasistha emphasizes the immutability of Bharata’s character. No amount of histrionics, coercion, or emotional blackmail by Kaikeyi will sway Bharata. The phrase vamśacaritrajñaḥ (knower of the lineage's history) implies that Bharata is bound by the code of the Iksvakus, which prioritizes righteousness over power.

यह एक मुहावरेदार अभिव्यक्ति है। "पृथ्वी से आकाश में उछलना" का अर्थ है—असंभव हठ करना या एड़ी-चोटी का जोर लगाना। वसिष्ठ जी कह रहे हैं कि कैकेयी चाहे कितना भी दबाव डाल ले, रघुकुल की मर्यादा (कीर्ति और सत्य) को जानने वाला भरत कभी राम का अधिकार नहीं छीनेगा। यह भरत के चरित्र पर गुरु का अटूट विश्वास दर्शाता है।
