रामेण यदि ते पा पे किम्चित्कृतमशोभनम् ।
अपकारः क इह ते वैदेह्या दर्शितोऽधमे ॥ ॥२-३८-८॥
rāmeṇa yadi te pā pe kimcitkṛtamaśobhanam |
apakāraḥ ka iha te vaidehyā darśito'dhame ॥2-38-8॥
Translation
"O sinful one! Even if Rama has done something unseemly to you, what harm, O vile woman, has the Princess of Videha shown you here?"

"अरी पापिनी! यदि राम ने तुम्हारा कुछ अशुभ (बुरा) किया भी हो, तो हे नीच स्त्री! विदेहराज की पुत्री (सीता) ने तुम्हारा यहाँ क्या अपकार किया है?"
English Commentary
Dasharatha confronts the irrationality of Kaikeyi’s malice. Addressing her with strong abuses like Pāpe (sinner) and Adhame (lowest/vile one), he demands a rationale. He concedes, for argument's sake, that she might have a grievance against Rama, but targeting Sita is inexplicable. It highlights that Kaikeyi’s cruelty has spilled over from political maneuvering into pure sadism against an innocent woman.

राजा का क्रोध अब अनियंत्रित है। वे कैकेयी को "पापे" (पापिनी) और "अधमे" (नीच) जैसे कठोर शब्दों से संबोधित करते हैं। वे तर्क करते हैं—राम तुम्हारा सौतेला बेटा है, शायद सत्ता के संघर्ष में तुम्हें उससे डर हो, लेकिन सीता? वह तो कुलवधू है। सीता ने कभी राजनीति में भाग नहीं लिया। दशरथ कैकेयी की द्वेषभावना की अतार्किकता को उजागर कर रहे हैं।
