राजा सत्वरमाहूय व्यापृतं वित्तसञ्चये ।
उवाच देशकालज्ञो निश्चितं सर्वतः शुचिः ॥२-३९-१४॥
rājā satvaramāhūya vyāpṛtaṃ vittasañcaye |
uvāca deśakālajño niścitaṃ sarvataḥ śuciḥ ॥2-39-14॥
Translation
Then the King, the knower of time and place, who was pure in every way, quickly called for the officer in charge of the treasury and spoke decisively.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब देश और काल के ज्ञाता, पवित्र आचरण वाले राजा (दशरथ) ने धन-संचय के अधिकारी (कोषाध्यक्ष) को शीघ्र बुलाकर यह निश्चित वचन कहा।
English Commentary
King Dasharatha is described here as deśa-kāla-jñaḥ (knower of place and time). Despite his emotional devastation, he retains the practical wisdom of a ruler. He recognizes that while Rama is bound by the ascetic vow, Sita, the daughter-in-law and princess, is not required to suffer the same deprivation of basic amenities. Summoning the treasurer (vyāpṛtaṃ vitta-sañcaye), the King acts niścitam (decisively) and with purity (śuciḥ), ensuring that he fulfills his duty as a father-in-law to provide for Sita's welfare before she steps into the wild.
