विज्ञाय वचनं सीता तस्या धर्मार्थसंहितम् ।
कृताञ्जलिरुवाचेदं श्वश्रूमभिमुखे स्थिता ॥२-३९-२६॥
vijñāya vacanaṃ sītā tasyā dharmārthasaṃhitam |
kṛtāñjaliruvācedaṃ śvaśrūmabhimukhe sthitā ॥2-39-26॥
Translation
Understanding her words which were endowed with Dharma and meaning, Sita, standing before her mother-in-law with folded hands, spoke this.

सास के उस धर्म और अर्थ से युक्त वचन को समझकर, सीता ने हाथ जोड़कर (कृताञ्जलि), उनके सम्मुख खड़ी होकर यह कहा।
English Commentary
Sita receives the advice with grace and intelligence. She recognizes that Kausalya’s words, though cautionary, are dharma-artha-saṃhitam (consistent with righteousness and practical wisdom). Instead of taking offense at the implication that she might need such advice, Sita adopts a posture of humility (kṛtāñjali - hands folded). This verse highlights Sita's maturity; she understands the anxiety of her mother-in-law and responds with the respect due to an elder, preparing to reassure her.

सीता की प्रतिक्रिया अत्यंत विनयशील और समझदारी भरी है। उन्होंने कौशल्या के वचनों को 'धर्मार्थसंहितम्' (धर्म और अर्थ से युक्त) माना, न कि एक कठोर भाषण। सीता को बुरा नहीं लगा कि सास उन्हें ऐसी शिक्षा दे रही हैं, बल्कि उन्होंने उसके पीछे के मंतव्य को समझा। 'कृताञ्जलि' (हाथ जोड़े हुए) और 'अभिमुखे स्थिता' (सामने खड़ी होकर) उनकी नम्रता और बड़ों के प्रति सम्मान को दर्शाता है। सीता का यह व्यवहार सिद्ध करता है कि वे वास्तव में 'सुजाता' (कुलीन) हैं।
