तां प्राञ्जलिरभिक्रम्य मातृमध्येऽतिसत्कृताम् ।
रामः परमधर्मज्ञो मातरं वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥२-३९-३३॥
tāṃ prāñjalirabhikramya mātṛmadhye'tisatkṛtām |
rāmaḥ paramadharmajño mātaraṃ vākyamabravīt ॥2-39-33॥
Translation
Approaching her (Kausalya), who was highly honoured among the mothers, with joined palms, Rama, the supreme knower of Dharma, spoke these words.

माताओं के मध्य अत्यंत सम्मानित उन माता (कौशल्या) के पास जाकर, हाथ जोड़कर, परम धर्म के ज्ञाता राम ने यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Rama, identified as parama-dharma-jñaḥ (supreme knower of Dharma), steps forward to fulfill his final duty before leaving: consoling his mother. Kausalya is described as ati-satkṛtām (highly honored) among the mothers, highlighting her status as the Chief Queen, which makes her tragedy even more profound—falling from the highest happiness to the deepest grief. Rama approaches her with joined palms (prāñjali), a gesture of submission and reverence, ready to deliver his parting message.

अब दृश्य सीता से हटकर राम पर आता है। राम 'परमधर्मज्ञो' (धर्म के सर्वोच्च ज्ञाता) हैं, वे जानते हैं कि इस समय माँ को सांत्वना देना उनका कर्तव्य है। कौशल्या 'मातृमध्येऽतिसत्कृताम' (माताओं के बीच अति सत्कार पाने वाली/पटरानी) हैं। राम 'प्राञ्जलिः' (हाथ जोड़े हुए) होकर विदा मांगते हैं। यह राम का शिष्टाचार और अपनी माँ के प्रति सर्वोच्च सम्मान दर्शाता है। वे जानते हैं कि उनके जाने के बाद सबसे अधिक आघात कौशल्या को ही लगेगा, इसलिए वे विशेष रूप से उन्हें संबोधित करते हैं।
