अम्ब मा दुःखिता भूस्त्वं पश्य त्वं पितरं मम ।
क्षयो हि वनवासस्य क्षिप्रमेव भविष्यति ॥२-३९-३४॥
amba mā duḥkhitā bhūstvaṃ paśya tvaṃ pitaraṃ mama |
kṣayo hi vanavāsasya kṣiprameva bhaviṣyati ॥2-39-34॥
Translation
O Mother! Do not be aggrieved. Look after my father. Indeed, the end of the forest exile will come very quickly.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे माँ! तुम दुखी मत होओ। तुम मेरे पिता (महाराज दशरथ) की ओर देखो (उनकी देखभाल करो)। वनवास का यह समय (क्षय) शीघ्र ही बीत जाएगा।
English Commentary
Rama displays remarkable emotional intelligence and selflessness. Instead of dwelling on his own plight, he redirects Kausalya's focus to her duty: paśya tvaṃ pitaraṃ mama (look to my father). He knows Dasharatha is on the brink of collapse and only Kausalya can sustain him. By asking her not to grieve and promising that the exile will end kṣipram eva (very quickly), Rama tries to instill hope and purpose in her, ensuring the stability of the family he is leaving behind.

राम अपनी माँ का ध्यान उनके दुःख से हटाकर उनके कर्तव्य की ओर ले जाते हैं। वे कहते हैं, 'पश्य त्वं पितरं मम' (मेरे पिता को देखो)। राम जानते हैं कि दशरथ टूट चुके हैं और संभवतः प्राण त्याग सकते हैं, इसलिए कौशल्या को अब पत्नी धर्म निभाते हुए राजा का संबल बनना है। राम अपनी पीड़ा छिपाकर माँ को ढांढस बंधाते हैं कि १४ वर्ष 'क्षिप्रमेव' (जल्दी ही) बीत जाएंगे। यह राम की निस्वार्थता है—जाते-जाते भी वे पिता की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करना चाहते हैं।
