प्रविश्न्नेप च श्रीमान् राघवो भवनं पितुः ।
ददर्श पितरं दूरात् प्रणिपत्य कृताञ्ज्लिः ॥२-४-१०॥
praviśnnepa ca śrīmān rāghavo bhavanaṃ pituḥ |
dadarśa pitaraṃ dūrāt praṇipatya kṛtāñjaliḥ ॥2-4-10॥
Translation
And upon entering his father's apartment, the glorious scion of Raghu (Rama), saw his father from a distance and, making the gesture of respect with folded hands (Anjali), bowed down (in reverence).

और प्रवेश करने पर, वे श्रीमान् रघुवंशी रामचन्द्र जी ने पिता के भवन में दूर से ही पिता को देखा और हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम किया।
English Commentary
This verse is from the Ayodhya Kanda, Sarga 4, of the Valmiki Ramayana, illustrating Shri Rama's profound respect and humility towards his father. Upon being summoned by King Dasharatha, 'Śrīmān Rāghavaḥ' (the glorious Rama) enters his father's private apartment. As soon as he sees his father from a distance, he immediately 'kṛtāñjaliḥ' (makes the gesture of folded hands) and 'praṇipatya' (humbly bows down) in reverence. This action highlights Rama's exemplary filial piety and royal decorum. Although he is about to be crowned as the Crown Prince, his conduct is that of a respectful son who reveres his father first and foremost as 'pituḥ' (father) rather than merely 'nareśvaram' (King). Rama's act of bowing from a distance demonstrates the immense respect and discipline ingrained in his character.
