अवष्टब्धं च मे राम नक्षत्रं दारुणैर्ग्रहैः ।
आवेदयन्ति दैवज्ञावः सूर्याङ्गारकराहुभिः ॥२-४-१८॥
avaṣṭabdhaṃ ca me rāma nakṣatraṃ dāruṇairgrahaiḥ |
āvedayanti daivajñāvaḥ sūryāṅgārakarāhubhiḥ ॥2-4-18॥
Translation
Hey Rama! Even my birth star is being suppressed (or is surrounded) by cruel planets—Sun, Mars (Angaraka) and Rahu, as per the astrologers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राम! मेरे जन्म नक्षत्र को भी क्रूर ग्रहों—सूर्य, मंगल (अंगारक) और राहु—ने दबा (या घेर) लिया है, ऐसा ज्योतिषी मुझे बता रहे हैं।
English Commentary
This verse indicates another serious reason for Dasharatha's decision regarding the immediate coronation. He expresses a foreboding of his imminent death or disaster based on astrological calculations, moving beyond natural ominous signs.
'avaṣṭabdhaṃ ca me rāma nakṣatraṃ dāruṇairgrahaiḥ' (My birth star is being suppressed by cruel planets):
Birth star: In astrology, a person's birth star is considered a central point influencing their life, health, and fortune.
avaṣṭabdhaṃ: This word means 'to be hindered' or 'to be surrounded'. It implies that the star affecting Dasharatha's life is under a negative impact from ominous planets.
This is a clear signal that there is a crisis looming over Dasharatha's life, and it becomes a personal and poignant reason for the urgency of the coronation.
'āvedayanti daivajñāḥ sūryāṅgārakarāhubhiḥ' (Astrologers are telling this through Sun, Mars, and Rahu):
Dasharatha did not rely solely on his suspicions but verified it with astrologers. This indicates that he sought the support of tradition and astrological knowledge in state decisions.
Sun, Angaraka (Mars), and Rahu: These three planets (Rahu is a shadow planet) are deemed extremely cruel and bring inauspicious results in astrology, especially when they afflict significant placements in someone's birth chart.
Sun: The significator of the soul and sovereignty. Its affliction can endanger the king's power and life.
Angaraka (Mars): The significator of war, accidents, and death.
Rahu: The significator of unexpected calamities, confusion, and death.
The affliction of the birth star by all three was indicative of a life-threatening crisis for the king.
Through this verse, Dasharatha clarifies that his death may be imminent; hence he does not wish to delay even an instant in the coronation of Rama. He desires that Rama take over the kingship while he is still alive, to prevent any chaos in the kingdom.

यह श्लोक दशरथ के शीघ्र राज्याभिषेक के निर्णय का एक और गंभीर कारण बताता है। वह प्राकृतिक अशुभ संकेतों से आगे बढ़कर, ज्योतिषीय गणनाओं के आधार पर अपनी आसन्न मृत्यु या विपत्ति का पूर्वाभास व्यक्त कर रहे हैं।
'अवष्टब्धं च मे राम नक्षत्रं दारुणैर्ग्रहैः' (मेरे जन्म नक्षत्र को दारुण ग्रहों ने दबा लिया है):
जन्म नक्षत्र: ज्योतिष में किसी व्यक्ति का जन्म नक्षत्र उसके जीवन, स्वास्थ्य और भाग्य का केंद्रीय बिंदु माना जाता है।

'आवेदयन्ति दैवज्ञाः सूर्याङ्गारकराहुभिः' (ज्योतिषी सूर्य, मंगल और राहु द्वारा बता रहे हैं):
दशरथ ने केवल अपनी आशंका पर भरोसा नहीं किया, बल्कि उन्होंने दैवज्ञों (Royal Astrologers) से इसका सत्यापन करवाया। यह दर्शाता है कि वे राज्य के महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय में परंपरा और ज्योतिषीय ज्ञान का सहारा लेते थे।
सूर्य, अंगारक (मंगल), और राहु: ये तीनों ग्रह (राहु छाया ग्रह है) ज्योतिष में अत्यंत क्रूर और अशुभ फल देने वाले माने जाते हैं, खासकर जब वे किसी की जन्म कुंडली में महत्वपूर्ण स्थान को पीड़ित करते हैं।
सूर्य: आत्मा और राजसत्ता का कारक। यदि यह पीड़ित हो, तो राजा की शक्ति और जीवन पर संकट आता है।
अंगारक (मंगल): युद्ध, दुर्घटना और मृत्यु का कारक।

इन तीनों का एक साथ जन्म नक्षत्र को पीड़ित करना राजा के लिए प्राणघातक संकट का संकेत था।
इस श्लोक के माध्यम से दशरथ यह स्पष्ट कर रहे हैं कि उनकी मृत्यु निकट हो सकती है, और इसीलिए वह राम के राज्याभिषेक में रत्ती भर भी विलंब नहीं करना चाहते। वह चाहते हैं कि उनके रहते ही राम राज्यभार संभाल लें, ताकि राज्य में कोई अराजकता न फैले।
