अद्य चन्द्रोऽभ्युपगतः पुष्यात्पूर्वं पुनर्वसू ।
श्वः पुष्ययोगं नियतं वक्ष्यन्ते दैवचिन्तकाः ॥२-४-२१॥
Adya chandro'bhayupagatah pushyatpurvam punarvasu |
shvah pushyayogam niyatam vakshyante daivachintakah ॥2-4-21॥
Translation
Today the moon has come to the punarvasu star, which is just before the pushya star. The astrologers are definitely saying that tomorrow there will be an auspicious yoga of the pushya star.

आज चंद्रमा पुष्य नक्षत्र से ठीक पहले के पुनर्वसु नक्षत्र में आ गया है। ज्योतिषी निश्चित रूप से बता रहे हैं कि कल पुष्य नक्षत्र का शुभ योग होगा।
English Commentary
This verse provides an astrological basis for the urgency of Dasharatha's coronation and the highly auspicious moment chosen for it. 'Adya chandro'bhayupagatah pushyatpurvam punarvasu' (Today the moon has come to the punarvasu star): In Indian astrology, the movement of the moon determines the time and auspiciousness of moments. The sequence of nakshatras: punarvasu, pushya, aslesha. Dasharatha is stating that the moon is currently in punarvasu nakshatra, which comes just before pushya. This position is perfectly suited for the auspicious yoga of pushya the following day. 'Shvah pushyayogam niyatam vakshyante daivachintakah' (Tomorrow there will definitely be the yoga of pushya): Pushya nakshatra is considered extremely auspicious among all nakshatras, especially for coronations, travels, or any significant auspicious tasks. It is also called 'the king of nakshatras.' Niyata (definitely): Dasharatha emphasizes that this yoga is not just potential but has been confirmed by astrologers (daivachintakah). This confirms his belief in the success of the coronation. This choice of auspicious time reflects Dasharatha's foresight and dedication to royal duty—by choosing the most auspicious day, he wishes to secure divine blessings for Rama's reign. This verse shows that despite his inauspicious signs, Dasharatha had chosen the most fitting and auspicious time astrologically to fulfill his final wish (the coronation).
