ततः पुष्येऽभिषिञ्चस्व मनस्त्वरयतीव माम् ।
श्वस्त्वाहमभिषेक्ष्यामि यौवराज्ये परंतप ॥२-४-२२॥
tataḥ puṣye'bhṣiñcasa mano'tvarayatīva mām |
śvastvāhamabhiṣekṣyāmi yauvarājye paraṃtapa ॥2-4-22॥
Translation
Therefore, in the auspicious constellation of Pushya, you should get the anointing done. My mind seems to urge me to hurry. O destroyer of enemies (Rama)! I will anoint you tomorrow for the position of Crown Prince.

इसलिए, पुष्य नक्षत्र (के योग) में तुम अपना अभिषेक करा लो। मेरा मन मानो मुझे जल्दी करने के लिए प्रेरित कर रहा है। हे शत्रुओं को ताप देने वाले (राम)! मैं कल तुमको युवराज के पद पर अभिषिक्त करूँगा।
English Commentary
This shloka represents the culmination of all of Dasharatha's considerations (inauspicious omens, astrological defects, and the combination of auspicious moments) and is an order for implementation. 'Tataḥ puṣye'bhṣiñcasa' (Therefore get the anointing done in Pushya): The word 'tataḥ' (therefore) refers to all the reasons given in the previous shlokas (2-4-17 to 2-4-21)—inauspicious signs, planetary afflictions, and the auspicious timing of Pushya. Dasharatha makes the necessity of the anointing in Pushya the main point of his order. 'Manastvarayatīva mām' (My mind seems to urge me to hurry): This reflects Dasharatha's mental state. Due to ominous signs and age, there is an intense impatience in his mind. The use of the word 'iva' (as if) indicates that this urgency is not coming from outside, but is arising from his inner self, triggered by the bad omens. It showcases his wisdom, understanding that this inner unease could be a premonition of trouble. 'Śvastvāhamabhiṣekṣyāmi yauvarājye paraṃtapa' (I will anoint you tomorrow for the position of Crown Prince): This order clarifies that the coronation should happen tomorrow in the auspicious constellation of Pushya. 'Yauvarājye' (for the position of Crown Prince): This confirms that Rama is being made Crown Prince initially, not directly the king, but to prepare him for governance. 'Paraṃtapa' (O destroyer of enemies): This address acknowledges Rama's bravery and his ability to conquer foes, which are essential qualities for a Crown Prince/future king.
