कामं खलु सतां वृत्ते भ्राता ते भरतः स्थितः ।
ज्येष्ठनुवर्ती धर्मात्मा सानुक्रोशो जितेन्द्रियः ॥२-४-२६॥
kāmaṃ khalu satāṃ vṛtte bhrātā te bharataḥ sthitaḥ |
jyeṣṭhānuvartī dharmātmā sānukrośo jitendriyaḥ ॥2-4-26॥
Translation
"Indeed, it is true that your brother Bharata is established in the conduct of the virtuous. He follows his eldest brother, is righteous, compassionate, and has mastered his senses."

"यह सत्य है कि तुम्हारा भाई भरत सत्पुरुषों के आचरण में स्थित है। वह अपने बड़े भाई (तुम्हारा) का अनुसरण करने वाला, धर्मात्मा, दयालु और जितेन्द्रिय है।"
English Commentary
Dasharatha provides the rationale for holding the coronation while Prince Bharata is away at his maternal uncle's home. He begins by profusely praising Bharata’s character to ensure Rama doesn't think ill of his brother. He acknowledges Bharata is Dharmatma (righteous) and devoted to Rama (jyeshthanuvarti). However, this praise acts as a prelude to a "but." Dasharatha is trying to convince himself as much as Rama. By listing Bharata's virtues, he validates that Bharata should be fine with this, yet his actions (rushing the event) betray his anxiety about potential interference.
