अथान्तर्गृहमासाद्य राजा दशरथस्तदा ।
सूतमामन्त्रयामास रामं पुनरिहानय ॥२-४-३॥
athāntargṛhamāsādya rājā daśarathastadā |
sūtamāmantrayāmāsa rāmaṃ punarihānaya ॥2-4-3॥
Translation
Then King Dasharatha, having entered the inner apartment of the palace at that time, summoned the charioteer (Sumantra) and commanded, 'Bring Rama back here again.'

तत्पश्चात राजा दशरथ ने महल के भीतर प्रवेश करके उस समय सारथी सुमन्त्र को बुलाया और कहा कि 'राम को फिर से यहाँ ले आओ'।
English Commentary
This verse is from the Ayodhya Kanda, Sarga 4, of the Ramayana composed by Maharshi Valmiki. At this point, King Dasharatha of Ayodhya has already announced the coronation of his beloved elder son, Shri Rama, as the Crown Prince and is conferring with his ministers after the citizens have departed. In the verse, King Dasharatha, having retired to his inner chambers, urgently summons his charioteer, Sumantra, and commands him to immediately bring Shri Rama back to him. This clearly indicates that the King wished to communicate something critical or highly personal to his son regarding the decision, and that too, with great haste. This action reveals King Dasharatha's immense paternal affection for Rama and his eagerness to complete the task of the anointment as soon as possible. The King's conduct hints at the profound decision he is about to share with Rama in private, marking a pivotal moment in the narrative leading up to Rama's proposed coronation.

यह श्लोक महर्षि वाल्मीकि द्वारा रचित रामायण के अयोध्याकाण्ड के चौथे सर्ग का है। इस समय अयोध्या के महाराज दशरथ अपने प्रिय ज्येष्ठ पुत्र श्रीराम के युवराज-पद पर अभिषेक की घोषणा कर चुके हैं और प्रजाजनों के जाने के बाद वे अपने मंत्रियों के साथ फिर से विचार-विमर्श कर रहे हैं। श्लोक में, राजा दशरथ अपने सारथी सुमन्त्र को, जिन्हें वह अत्यन्त प्रिय मानते थे, बुलाकर तत्काल यह आदेश देते हैं कि वह श्रीराम को पुनः उनके पास ले आएँ। इससे यह स्पष्ट होता है कि महाराजा दशरथ अपने निर्णय के संबंध में कोई महत्वपूर्ण या निजी बात अपने पुत्र से शीघ्रतापूर्वक कहना चाहते थे। इससे राजा की राम के प्रति अतिशय वात्सल्य और अभिषेक के कार्य को यथाशीघ्र संपन्न करने की उनकी उत्कंठा प्रकट होती है। राजा का यह कार्य उस बड़े निर्णय का पूर्वाभास देता है, जिसके लिए वह एकांत में राम से परामर्श करना चाहते थे। यह प्रसंग राम के राज्याभिषेक की प्रक्रिया के महत्वपूर्ण चरण को दर्शाता है।
