Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रथम् आरोह भद्रम् ते राज पुत्र महा यशः ।
क्षिप्रम् त्वाम् प्रापयिष्यामि यत्र माम् राम वक्ष्यसि ॥ ॥२-४०-११॥
ratham āroha bhadram te rāja putra mahā yaśaḥ |
kṣipram tvām prāpayiṣyāmi yatra mām rāma vakṣyasi ॥2-40-11॥
Translation
Ascend the chariot, O Prince of great fame; may good betide you. I will take you quickly to wherever you tell me, O Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे महायशस्वी राजपुत्र! आपका कल्याण हो। रथ पर आरोहण करें। आप जहाँ कहेंगे, मैं आपको शीघ्र ही वहाँ पहुँचा दूँगा।
English Commentary
Sumantra addresses Rama as Maha Yashah (one of great fame). This is ironic yet profound—Rama is losing his kingdom, yet his fame is increasing due to his sacrifice. Sumantra is efficient and ready to obey. His offer to take Rama "wherever you tell me" shows that although the destination is the forest, the specific path is still under Rama's command. He wishes to depart quickly to cut short the agonizing farewells.

सुमन्त्र राम को 'महा यशः' (महान यशस्वी) कह रहे हैं। वनवास जाने से राम का यश कम नहीं हुआ, बल्कि त्याग के कारण और बढ़ गया है। सुमन्त्र अपनी सेवा प्रस्तुत करते हैं और राम की आज्ञा की प्रतीक्षा करते हैं। 'क्षिप्रम्' (शीघ्र) शब्द बताता है कि सुमन्त्र वहां के शोकपूर्ण वातावरण से राम को जल्दी दूर ले जाना चाहते हैं ताकि विलंब होने पर स्थिति और अधिक भावुक न हो जाए।
