Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स च श्रीमानचिन्त्यात्मा रामो दशरथात्मजः ।
सूतम् सम्चोदयामास त्वरितम् वाह्यतामिति ॥ ॥२-४०-३१॥
sa ca śrīmānacintyātmā rāmo daśarathātmajaḥ |
sūtam samcodayāmāsa tvaritam vāhyatāmiti ॥2-40-31॥
Translation
And the glorious Rama, son of Dasharatha, of incomprehensible mind, urged the charioteer: "Drive fast!"
हिंदी अनुवाद
उधर, श्रीमान और अचिन्त्य आत्मा (गहन विचारों वाले) दशरथ नंदन राम ने सारथी (सुमन्त्र) को आदेश दिया— "शीघ्र चलाओ (गाड़ी भगाओ)!"
English Commentary
Rama is described as acintyatma (one whose soul/mind is beyond comprehension). While everyone expects him to stop and console, he orders tvaritam vahyatam (drive fast). This seeming cruelty is actually profound compassion. He realizes that prolonging the departure only prolongs the agony for his father and the citizens. He chooses the path of decisive action to facilitate the inevitable separation.

राम को 'अचिन्त्य आत्मा' (जिनके मन की थाह न मिल सके) कहा गया है। यद्यपि वे माता-पिता और प्रजा को रोता देख दुखी हैं, फिर भी वे 'त्वरितम् वाह्यताम्' (तेज चलाओ) का आदेश देते हैं। यह उनकी कठोरता नहीं, बल्कि दया है। वे जानते हैं कि वे जितनी देर वहां रुकेंगे, लोगों का कष्ट उतना ही बढ़ेगा। वे मोह के बंधन को झटके से तोडना चाहते हैं।
