त्रिशङ्कुर्लोहिताङ्गश्च बृहस्पतिबुधावपि ।
दारुणाः सोममभ्येत्य ग्रहाः सर्वे व्यवस्थिताः ॥ ॥२-४१-११॥
Triśaṅkurlohitāṅgaśca bṛhaspatibudhāvapi । Dāruṇāḥ somamabhyetya grahāḥ sarve vyavasthitāḥ ॥ ॥2-41-11॥
Translation
Trishanku, Mars (Lohitanga), Jupiter, and Mercury—all these planets assumed menacing positions, converging around the Moon.
हिंदी अनुवाद
त्रिशंकु, लोहितांग (मंगल), बृहस्पति और बुध—ये सभी क्रूर (अशुभ) ग्रह चंद्रमा के पास जाकर (उसे घेरकर) स्थित हो गए।
English Commentary
Valmiki describes ominous astrological alignments to reflect the impending doom. The Moon, often representing the mind or the king in Vedic astrology, is besieged by aggressive planetary forces like Mars (Lohitanga) and even the usually benefic Jupiter and Mercury, who have turned malevolent (darunah). This cosmic siege symbolizes the attack on the heart of Ayodhya. It suggests that the laws of nature and destiny have turned against the kingdom, foreshadowing the death of the King and the darkness to follow.

यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी खगोलीय अपशकुनों (bad omens) का वर्णन कर रहे हैं। ज्योतिष में चंद्रमा 'मन' और 'प्रजा' का कारक है, जबकि मंगल और अन्य ग्रह यहाँ क्रूर स्थिति में दिखाए गए हैं। शुभ ग्रह (बृहस्पति) का भी दारुण (भयानक) हो जाना यह संकेत देता है कि धर्म और ज्ञान भी अब रक्षा नहीं कर पा रहे। यह ग्रहीय स्थिति अयोध्या पर आने वाली विपत्ति (राजा दशरथ की मृत्यु और राज्य में अराजकता) का पूर्व संकेत है।
