नक्षत्राणि गतार्चींषि ग्रहाश्च गततेजसः ।
विशाखाश्च सधूमाश्च नभसि प्रचकाशिरे ॥ ॥२-४१-१२॥
Nakṣatrāṇi gatārcīṃṣi grahāśca gatatejasaḥ । Viśākhāśca sadhūmāśca nabhasi pracakāśire ॥ ॥2-41-12॥
Translation
The stars lost their brilliance, and the planets lost their luster. The Vishakha constellation appeared in the sky shrouded in smoke.

नक्षत्रों की चमक फीकी पड़ गई, ग्रहों का तेज नष्ट हो गया। आकाश में विशाखा नक्षत्र धुएं से घिरा हुआ (धूमकेतु जैसा) दिखाई देने लगा।
English Commentary
The celestial signs continue to deteriorate. The stars and planets losing their luster signifies a loss of vitality in the cosmos itself. Specifically, the Vishakha constellation appearing "shrouded in smoke" is a classic portent of catastrophe in ancient texts, often signaling the downfall of a ruling house or a great war. The universe mirrors the earthly tragedy: with the "Sun of the Solar Dynasty" (Rama) gone, the sky itself has dimmed in mourning.

इक्ष्वाकु वंश का नक्षत्र 'विशाखा' माना जाता है (कुछ मतों में)। उसका 'सधूमा' (धुएं से युक्त) होना अत्यंत अशुभ माना जाता है, जो कुल के विनाश या महान संकट का सूचक है। तारों और ग्रहों का तेजहीन होना यह बताता है कि राम, जो जगत के प्रकाश थे, उनके जाते ही ब्रह्मांड भी निस्तेज हो गया है। यह 'अंधकार' भौतिक कम और प्रतीकात्मक अधिक है—आशा की किरणें बुझ गई हैं।
