सकामा भव कैकेयि विधवा राज्यम् आवस ।
कण्टकाक्रमण क्लान्तावनमद्य गमिष्यति ॥२-४२-१९॥
sakāmā bhava kaikeyi vidhavā rājyam āvasa |
kaṇṭakākramaṇa klāntāvanamadya gamiṣyati ॥2-42-19॥
Translation
Be satisfied in your wish, Kaikeyi; rule the kingdom as a widow. (Sita), weary from treading on thorns, goes to the forest today.

हे कैकेयी! अब तुम्हारी इच्छा पूरी हुई, तुम विधवा होकर राज्य पर शासन करो। (सीता) काँटों पर चलने से थककर आज वन को जा रही है।
English Commentary
King Dasharatha's anger is now directed squarely at Kaikeyi. The statement 'sakāmā bhava kaikeyi' (Be satisfied in your wish, Kaikeyi) is filled with bitter sarcasm, as the king knows that the joy of the kingdom without Rama will be fleeting. 'Vidhavā rājyam āvasa' (Rule the kingdom as a widow) indicates that the king is aware of his imminent death and is cursing Kaikeyi for her evil deeds. The description of Sita's suffering—'kaṇṭakākramaṇa klāntāvanamadya gamiṣyati' (weary from treading on thorns, goes to the forest today)—breaks the king's heart. He does not limit Kaikeyi's boons to just Rama's exile but directly blames her for the suffering inflicted upon Sita.

राजा दशरथ का क्रोध अब सीधे कैकेयी पर निर्देशित होता है। 'सकामा भव कैकेयि' (हे कैकेयी! अब तुम्हारी इच्छा पूरी हुई) का कथन घोर व्यंग्य से भरा है, क्योंकि राजा यह जानते हैं कि राम के बिना राज्य का सुख क्षणभंगुर होगा। 'विधवा राज्यम् आवस' (विधवा होकर राज्य पर शासन करो) यह दर्शाता है कि राजा को अपनी आसन्न मृत्यु का बोध हो चुका है और वे कैकेयी को उसके दुष्कर्मों के लिए श्राप दे रहे हैं। सीता के कष्ट का वर्णन—'कण्टकाक्रमण क्लान्तावनमद्य गमिष्यति' (काँटों पर चलने से थककर आज वन को जा रही है)—राजा के हृदय को तोड़ देता है। वे कैकेयी के वरदान को केवल राम के वनवास तक सीमित नहीं मानते, बल्कि सीता को दिए गए कष्ट के लिए उसे सीधा दोषी ठहराते हैं।
