अथ गद्गदशब्दस्तु विलपन्मनुजाधिपः | उवाच मृदुमन्धार्थम् वचनम् दीन मस्वरम् ॥२-४२-२५॥
atha gadgada śabdastu vilapan manujādhipaḥ |
uvāca mṛdumandhārtham vacanam dīnamasvaram ॥2-42-25॥
Translation
Then, the lord of men (King Dasharatha), lamenting with a choked voice, spoke words that were soft, of dim meaning, and in a wretched tone.

इसके बाद, मनुष्यों के स्वामी (राजा दशरथ) गद्गद (रुँधे हुए) स्वर में विलाप करते हुए, दीन-हीन आवाज में, कोमल और अस्पष्ट अर्थ वाले वचन बोले।
English Commentary
This verse describes King Dasharatha's physical and mental state upon entering his palace. The 'gadgada sˊabdastu' (choked voice) indicates an impediment in his speech due to intense grief and crying. His lament is no longer clear and logical; the words 'mṛdumandhārtham' (soft and of dim meaning) show that his mind is unstable, and he cannot think or speak clearly. The 'dīnamasvaram' (wretched tone) expresses his powerlessness and despair. The separation from Rama has weakened the king not only emotionally but also physically, stripping him of his royal dignity, leaving him to speak merely as a grieving father.

यह श्लोक राजा दशरथ की शारीरिक और मानसिक स्थिति को दर्शाता है जब वे अपने महल में प्रवेश करते हैं। 'गद्गद शब्दस्तु' (रुँधा हुआ स्वर) उनके गहन दुःख और अश्रुपात के कारण वाणी में आए अवरोध को दर्शाता है। उनका विलाप अब स्पष्ट और तार्किक नहीं रहा; 'मृदुमन्धार्थम्' (कोमल और अस्पष्ट अर्थ वाले) वचन यह दिखाते हैं कि उनका मन अस्थिर है और वे स्पष्ट रूप से सोच या बोल नहीं पा रहे हैं। 'दीन मस्वरम्' (दीन-हीन आवाज) उनकी शक्तिहीनता और निराशा को व्यक्त करता है। राम के वियोग ने राजा को केवल भावनात्मक रूप से ही नहीं, बल्कि शारीरिक रूप से भी कमजोर कर दिया है, जिससे वे अपनी राजसी गरिमा खोकर, केवल एक शोकाकुल पिता के रूप में बात कर रहे हैं।
