गज राज गतिर् वीरः महा बाहुर् धनुर् धरः ।
वनम् आविशते नूनम् सभार्यः सह लक्ष्मणः ॥२-४३-६॥
gaja rāja gatir vīraḥ mahā bāhur dhanur dharaḥ |
vanam āviśate nūnam sabhāryaḥ saha lakṣmaṇaḥ ॥2-43-6॥
Translation
The hero with the gait of a king elephant, the mighty-armed one wielding a bow, is surely entering the forest now, accompanied by his wife and Lakshmana.

हाथियों के राजा (गजराज) जैसी चाल चलने वाले, महाबाहु और धनुर्धारी वीर राम, निश्चय ही अब अपनी पत्नी और लक्ष्मण के साथ वन में प्रवेश कर रहे होंगे।
English Commentary
Kausalya visualizes Rama’s current state. The epithets used—gaja rāja gatir (gait of a royal elephant) and mahā bāhur (mighty-armed)—describe a warrior born to rule, emphasizing the irony of such a figure wandering in the wild. The visualization serves to torture her further; she imagines the contrast between his royal demeanor and his rugged surroundings. The mention of him being dhanur dharaḥ (holding a bow) offers slight comfort that he can protect himself, but the reality of him entering the forest (vanam āviśate) with Sita and Lakshmana weighs heavily on her.

कौसल्य अपनी कल्पना में राम की यात्रा को देख रही हैं। 'गज राज गतिर्' (मस्त हाथी जैसी चाल) राम के राजसी और निर्भीक व्यक्तित्व का सूचक है। 'महा बाहुर्' (विशाल भुजाओं वाले) उनकी शक्ति का प्रतीक है। माँ का हृदय यह सोचकर व्यथित है कि जो पैर राजमहल के मखमली फर्श पर चलते थे, वे अब वन के कांटों पर चल रहे हैं। 'नूनम्' (निश्चित ही) शब्द बताता है कि कौसल्या का मन हर पल राम की गतिविधियों का अनुमान लगा रहा है, भले ही वे आँखों से दूर हैं।
