दुःखजं विसृजन्ती अश्रु निष्क्रामन्तम् उदीक्ष्य यम् ।
समुत्स्रक्ष्यसि नेत्राभ्यां क्षिप्रम् आनन्दजं पयः ॥ ॥२-४४-१८॥
duḥkhajaṃ visṛjantī aśru niṣkrāmantam udīkṣya yam । samutsrakṣyasi netrābhyāṃ kṣipram ānandajaṃ payaḥ ॥ ॥2-44-18॥
Translation
While you are currently shedding tears of sorrow seeing him depart, you will soon shed tears of joy from your eyes upon his return.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिस राम को वन जाते हुए देखकर आप इस समय दुःख के आंसू बहा रही हैं, उन्हीं के लौटने पर आप शीघ्र ही अपने नेत्रों से हर्ष के आंसू बहाएंगी।
English Commentary
Sumitra attempts to transform Queen Kausalya's current grief into hope for the future. She presents a beautiful contrast between duhkha-jam (born of sorrow) and ananda-jam (born of joy) tears. This verse is not merely consolation but an expression of Sumitra's unwavering conviction that the exile will end in a joyous reunion. She urges Kausalya to realize that the current separation is temporary, and the future holds a triumphant return, encouraging her to maintain patience and strength.

सुमित्रा यहाँ माता कौशल्या के वर्तमान शोक को भविष्य की आशा में बदलने का प्रयास कर रही हैं। वे 'दुःखजं' (दुःख से उत्पन्न) और 'आनन्दजं' (आनन्द से उत्पन्न) आंसुओं के बीच एक सुंदर विरोधाभास प्रस्तुत करती हैं। यह श्लोक केवल सांत्वना नहीं है, बल्कि सुमित्रा का दृढ़ विश्वास है कि वनवास का अंत सुखद पुनर्मिलन में होगा। वे कौशल्या को यह समझाने का प्रयास करती हैं कि वर्तमान विरह क्षणिक है और भविष्य का मिलन निश्चित है, इसलिए उन्हें धैर्य धारण करना चाहिए।
