त्वया शेषो जनश्चैव समाश्वास्यो यदाऽनघे ।
किमिदानीमिदं देवि करोषि हृदि विक्लबम् ॥ ॥२-४४-२५॥
tvayā śeṣo janaścaiva samāśvāsyo yadā'naghe । kimidānīmidaṃ devi karoṣi hṛdi viklabam ॥ ॥2-44-25॥
Translation
O sinless one! When it is you who must console the rest of the people, why do you now harbor such bewilderment in your heart?

हे निष्पाप देवी! जब अन्य शेष जनों को आश्वासन देना आपका कर्तव्य है, तब आप इस समय अपने हृदय में ऐसी व्याकुलता क्यों धारण कर रही हैं?
English Commentary
Sumitra reminds Kausalya of her duty and status as the Chief Queen (Mahishi). She argues that the entire palace and the populace are in mourning, and it is the responsibility of Rama's mother to be their pillar of strength. If Kausalya, addressed here as anaghe (sinless/pure), collapses, who will hold the others together? This is a psychological tactic: pulling someone out of personal grief by highlighting their responsibility toward others.

यहाँ सुमित्रा कौशल्या को उनकी 'पटरानी' (महिषी) होने की जिम्मेदारी याद दिलाती हैं। वे कहती हैं कि पूरा रनिवास और प्रजा दुखी है, और उन्हें संभालने का दायित्व राम की माता पर है। यदि 'अनघे' (निष्पाप/पवित्र) कौशल्या ही टूट जाएंगी, तो दूसरों का क्या होगा? यह मनोविज्ञान का प्रयोग है—व्यक्ति को उसके कर्तव्य का भान कराकर उसे दुःख से बाहर निकालना।
