पुत्रस्ते वरदः क्षिप्रमयोध्यां पुनरागतः ।
पाणिभ्यां मृषदुपीनाभ्यां चरणौ पीडयिष्यति ॥ ॥२-४४-२८॥
putraste varadaḥ kṣipramayodhyāṃ punarāgataḥ । pāṇibhyāṃ mṛdūpīnābhyāṃ caraṇau pīḍayiṣyati ॥ ॥2-44-28॥
Translation
Your son, the bestower of boons, quickly returning to Ayodhya, will press your feet with his soft yet muscular hands.

वर देने वाले आपके पुत्र शीघ्र ही अयोध्या लौटकर अपने कोमल और मांसल (पुष्ट) हाथों से आपके चरणों को दबाएंगे (सेवा करेंगे)।
English Commentary
This verse focuses on physical intimacy and the act of service (seva). Rama’s hands are described with the paradoxical phrase mridu-pinabhyam—soft (for his mother and devotees) yet muscular/stout (for wielding weapons against enemies). Sumitra evokes the specific tactile sensation that Kausalya craves most. For a mother, having her powerful, adult son tenderly press her feet is the ultimate expression of filial piety and comfort, grounding the abstract hope of return in a concrete physical action.
