आश्वासयन्ती विविधैश्च वाक्यै ।
र्वाक्योपचारे कुशलानाद्या ।
रामस्य ताम् मातरमेवमुक्त्वा ।
देवी सुमित्राविरराम रामा ॥२-४४-३०॥
āśvāsayantī vividhaiśca vākyai |
rvākyopacāre kuśalanādyā |
rāmasya tām mātaram evamuktvā |
devī sumitrāvirarāma rāmā ॥2-44-30॥
Translation
The beautiful Queen Sumitrā, who was skillful in the art of conversation, having thus consoled Rāma's mother with various kinds of encouraging words, finally became silent.

नाना प्रकार के वाक्यों से सांत्वना देती हुई और वाक्य प्रयोग में निपुण देवी सुमित्रा, राम की माता कौसल्या से इस प्रकार कह कर शांत हो गईं।
English Commentary
This verse marks the conclusion of Chapter 44 of the Ayodhya Kāṇḍa. It signifies the end of Sumitrā's discourse, which served to alleviate Kauśalyā's deep grief. Sumitrā is praised for her intellect, beauty, and skill in speech, being described as 'skillful in the art of conversation' (vākyopacāre kuśala) and 'beautiful' (rāmā). Her consolation was not mere formality but was rooted in her unwavering faith in Rāma's divinity and future victory. With her becoming silent, this instructive dialogue ends, and Kauśalyā's heart is lightened, allowing the narrative to proceed.

यह श्लोक अयोध्या काण्ड के चौवालीसवें सर्ग का समापन है। यह सुमित्रा के परामर्श की समाप्ति को दर्शाता है, जिसने कौसल्या के गहरे शोक को दूर करने का कार्य किया। सुमित्रा को 'वाक्य प्रयोग में निपुण' (वाक्योपचारे कुशला) और 'सुन्दर' (रामा) कहकर उनकी बुद्धि, सौंदर्य और बोलने की कला की प्रशंसा की गई है। उनका सांत्वना देना केवल एक औपचारिकता नहीं था, बल्कि राम की दिव्यता और भविष्य की विजय में उनके अटूट विश्वास पर आधारित था। उनके शांत होने के साथ ही यह उपदेशात्मक संवाद समाप्त होता है, और कौसल्या का हृदय हल्का हो जाता है, जिससे कथा आगे बढ़ती है।
