अनुरक्ता महात्मानम् रामम् सत्य परक्रमम् ।
अनुजग्मुः प्रयान्तम् तम् वन वासाय मानवाः ॥२-४५-१॥
anuraktā mahātmānam rāmam satya parākramam |
anujagmuḥ prayāntam tam vana vāsāya mānavāḥ ॥2-45-1॥
Translation
When the high-souled Rāma, whose valour lay in truth, set out for the forest exile, many people who were devoted to him followed after him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सत्य में पराक्रमी महात्मा राम के वनवास के लिए प्रस्थान करने पर, उनसे अनुरक्त (स्नेह रखने वाले) बहुत से मनुष्य उनके पीछे-पीछे चल दिए।
English Commentary
This verse marks the beginning of Chapter 45 of the Ayodhya Kāṇḍa. It illustrates the profound love of the people of Ayodhyā for Rāma. Rāma's 'valour in truth' (satya parākramam) was the virtue that endeared him to the populace. Their devotion was so deep that they were prepared to abandon their homes and follow him. This demonstrates that Rāma's influence was not merely due to his status as the king's son, but because of his moral character and love for his subjects, which made him a high-souled being. This scene is a testament to the greatness of Rāma's virtues.

यहाँ से अयोध्या काण्ड का पैंतालीसवाँ सर्ग आरंभ होता है। यह श्लोक अयोध्या की प्रजा के राम के प्रति गहरे प्रेम को दर्शाता है। राम का 'सत्य पराक्रम' (सत्य में पराक्रम) ही वह गुण था जिसने उन्हें प्रजा का प्रिय बनाया। प्रजा का उनसे इतना गहरा प्रेम था कि वे अपने घर-बार छोड़कर भी उनके पीछे-पीछे चलने को तैयार थे। यह दिखाता है कि राम का प्रभाव केवल राजा के पुत्र के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि उनके नैतिक गुणों और प्रजा के प्रति उनके प्रेम के कारण था, जिसने उन्हें महान आत्मा बना दिया। यह दृश्य राम के गुणों की महानता का प्रमाण है।
