निवर्तिते अपि च बलात् सुहृद् वर्गे च राजिनि ।
न एव ते सम्न्यवर्तन्त रामस्य अनुगता रथम् ॥२-४५-२॥
nivartite api ca balāt suhṛd varge ca rājini |
na eva te samnyavartanta rāmasya anugatā ratham ॥2-45-2॥
Translation
Even when the king (Daśaratha) forcibly made his circle of friends return, those people who were following Rāma's chariot did not turn back at all.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब राजा (दशरथ) ने अपने सुहृद वर्ग (मित्रों के समूह) को बलपूर्वक लौटा दिया, तब भी राम के रथ के पीछे चल रहे वे लोग वापस नहीं लौटे।
English Commentary
This verse shows the extreme depth of the citizens' devotion to Rāma. Even when King Daśaratha formally sent back his friends and certain elite groups, the common people did not return. The phrase 'they did not turn back at all' (na eva te samnyavartanta) indicates that their love was not motivated by any command or force, but by sincere devotion. They preferred to stay with Rāma, even defying royal orders. This scene represents another major test of Rāma's popularity.

इस श्लोक में राम के प्रति प्रजा के प्रेम की पराकाष्ठा दिखाई गई है। जब राजा दशरथ ने औपचारिक रूप से अपने मित्रों और कुछ विशिष्ट लोगों को लौटा दिया, तब भी सामान्य प्रजा के लोग वापस नहीं लौटे। 'न एव ते सम्न्यवर्तन्त' (वे वापस नहीं लौटे) यह दर्शाता है कि उनका प्रेम किसी आदेश या बल से नहीं, बल्कि हार्दिक भक्ति से प्रेरित था। वे राजसी आदेशों की अवहेलना करते हुए भी राम के साथ रहने को प्राथमिकता देते थे। यह दृश्य राम की प्रजा-प्रियता की एक और बड़ी परीक्षा को दर्शाता है।
