ज्ञान वृद्धो वयो बालो मृदुर् वीर्य गुण अन्वितः ।
अनुरूपः स वो भर्ता भविष्यति भय अपहः ॥२-४५-८॥
jñāna vṛddho vayo bālo mṛdur vīrya guṇa anvitaḥ |
anurūpaḥ sa vo bhartā bhaviṣyati bhaya apahaḥ ॥2-45-8॥
Translation
Although young in age, he (Bharata) is mature in knowledge, gentle in disposition, and endowed with valour and other virtues. He will be a suitable ruler for you and one who removes all fear.

वे (भरत) ज्ञान में वृद्ध (समझदार), यद्यपि आयु में युवा, स्वभाव में कोमल, पराक्रम और अन्य गुणों से युक्त हैं। वे तुम्हारे अनुरूप और भय को हरने वाले शासक होंगे।
English Commentary
Rāma introduces Bharata as a great and balanced ruler. Being 'young in age' (vayo bālo) is not a deficit in his capability, because he is 'mature in knowledge' (jñāna vṛddho)—meaning he is capable of taking advice from experienced counselors and making decisions wisely. His 'gentle' (mṛdur) nature is balanced by his being 'endowed with valour and other virtues' (vīrya guṇa anvitaḥ), signifying both essential qualities for an ideal king: gentleness and strength. Rāma's assurance that he will be 'one who removes all fear' (bhaya apahaḥ) provides the populace with a sense of security and motivates them to accept Bharata's reign.
