Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अयम् युक्तो महाबाहो रथस्ते रथिनाम् वर ।
त्वमारोहस्व भद्रम् ते ससीतः सहलक्ष्मणः ॥ ॥२-४६-२७॥
ayam yukto mahābāho rathaste rathinām vara |
tvam ārohasva bhadram te sasītaḥ sahalakṣmaṇaḥ ॥2-46-27॥
Translation
O mighty-armed one! O best among charioteers! Here is your ready chariot. May good betide you; please ascend it now, along with Sita and Lakshmana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे महाबाहु! हे रथियों में श्रेष्ठ! यह आपका रथ तैयार है। आपका कल्याण हो; अब आप सीता और लक्ष्मण के साथ इस पर आरोहण करें।
English Commentary
Sumantra addresses Rama as rathinām vara (best among charioteers/warriors), acknowledging his prowess even as he adopts the life of an ascetic. The phrase bhadram te (may good betide you) is poignant here. It is more than a formality; it is a prayer from a loyal heart fearing for his master's safety in the wild. Inviting Rama to ascend with Sita and Lakshmana seals the moment of final separation from the sleeping city.

सुमंत्र यहाँ श्रीराम को 'रथिनाम् वर' (रथियों में श्रेष्ठ) कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, जो वनवास के साधारण वेश के बावजूद उनके क्षत्रिय तेज को याद दिलाता है। 'भद्रम् ते' (आपका कल्याण हो) का आशीर्वाद यहाँ बहुत मार्मिक है; यह एक सामान्य अभिवादन नहीं, बल्कि एक प्रार्थना है, क्योंकि वे अब एक अनिश्चित और कठिन यात्रा पर निकल रहे हैं। सुमंत्र जानते हैं कि वे राजमहल के सुखों को पीछे छोड़ रहे हैं, इसलिए वे उनकी सुरक्षा की मंगलकामना करते हैं।
