मूहूर्तम् त्वरितम् गत्वा निर्गतय रथम् पुनः ।
यथा न विद्युः पौरा माम् तथा कुरु समाहितः ॥ ॥२-४६-३१॥
muhūrtam tvaritam gatvā nirgataya ratham punaḥ |
yathā na vidyuḥ paurā mām tathā kuru samāhitaḥ ॥2-46-31॥
Translation
"Go quickly for a while, then turn the chariot away again. Act with such care that the citizens may not discover my whereabouts."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"कुछ देर तेजी से जाकर, रथ को फिर (रास्ते से) हटा लेना (लौटा लेना)। ऐसा सावधानीपूर्वक करो जिससे नागरिक मुझे न जान सकें (मेरा पता न लगा सकें)।"
English Commentary
Rama elaborates on the diversion. The plan is to leave visible tracks leading one way, and then effectively vanish. By commanding Sumantra to act samāhitaḥ (with great care/concentration), Rama ensures the ruse is successful. This highlights the tension between his role as a beloved prince and an ascetic exile; he must use statecraft (strategy) to escape the very people who love him, ensuring they eventually return to their homes and duties.

राम की योजना यहाँ स्पष्ट होती है। वे चाहते हैं कि रथ के निशान कुछ दूर तक तो दिखें, लेकिन फिर मुख्य रास्ते से हटा लिए जाएँ ताकि खोज करने वाले भ्रमित हो जाएँ। 'समाहितः' (सावधानी/एकाग्रता से) शब्द का प्रयोग बताता है कि यह कार्य बहुत चतुराई से किया जाना था। राम अपने प्रिय प्रजाजनों को दुख तो दे रहे हैं, लेकिन यह उनके और प्रजा के भविष्य के हित के लिए एक आवश्यक 'सर्जिकल' अलगाव है।
