स हि शूरः महा बाहुः पुत्रः दशरथस्य च ।
पुरा भवति नो दूरात् अनुगच्चाम राघवम् ॥ ॥२-४८-१६॥
sa hi śūraḥ mahā bāhuḥ putraḥ daśarathasya ca । purā bhavati no dūrāt anugaccāma rāghavam ॥ ॥2-48-16॥
Translation
He is indeed a hero, of mighty arms, and the son of Dasharatha. Before he goes too far away from us, let us follow Raghava.

वे महाबाहु और शूरवीर हैं और (महाराज) दशरथ के पुत्र हैं। इससे पहले कि वे हमसे बहुत दूर चले जाएं, हम राघव का अनुगमन (पीछा) करें।
English Commentary
The contemplation of nature ends, and urgent action begins. The citizens remind each other of Rama's lineage and prowess ("Son of Dasharatha," "Mighty-armed") to justify their decision to follow him into the dangers of the forest. The phrase "before he goes too far" reveals their panic and desperation. They realize that mere lamentation is useless; they must physically catch up to him to be in his presence. It marks the shift from passive grief to active pursuit of the divine beloved.

यहाँ नागरिकों की चर्चा में एक, तात्कालिकता (urgency) का भाव आता है। वे एक-दूसरे को प्रेरित कर रहे हैं। राम के गुणों (शूर, महाबाहु) का स्मरण करके वे स्वयं को आश्वस्त कर रहे हैं कि राम के साथ वे सुरक्षित रहेंगे। 'पुरा भवति नो दूरात्' (इससे पहले कि वे दूर हो जाएं) यह दर्शाता है कि प्रजा राम को खोने के डर से कितनी व्याकुल है। वे राम को अपनी आँखों से ओझल नहीं होने देना चाहते। यह श्लोक भक्ति की उस अवस्था को दिखाता है जहाँ भक्त भगवान के विछोह का एक क्षण भी सहन नहीं कर सकता।
