युष्माकम् राघवो अरण्ये योग क्षेमम् विधास्यति ।
सीता नारी जनस्य अस्य योग क्षेमम् करिष्यति ॥ ॥२-४८-१९॥
yuṣmākam rāghavo araṇye yoga kṣemam vidhāsyati । sītā nārī janasya asya yoga kṣemam kariṣyati ॥ ॥2-48-19॥
Translation
"Raghava will provide for your Yoga and Kshema (acquisition and preservation of needs) in the forest, and Sita will look after the Yoga and Kshema of the womenfolk."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(स्त्रियाँ कहती हैं) "वन में राघव (राम) तुम सब (पुरुषों) के योग-क्षेम (अप्राप्त की प्राप्ति और प्राप्त की रक्षा) का विधान करेंगे और सीता हम नारी-समाज के योग-क्षेम का ध्यान रखेंगी।"
English Commentary
The concept of Yoga-Kshema (well-being/security) is central here. Traditionally, a king ensures this from his throne. However, the women argue that Rama's capacity to provide security and sustenance is inherent to him, not his palace. They assure their husbands that even in the wilderness, Rama will manage the men's welfare, and Sita will care for the women. This reflects a profound trust that the royal couple acts as the "parents" of the subjects, capable of creating a civilized, secure society even in the middle of a jungle.

'योग-क्षेम' एक भारी राजनीतिक और आध्यात्मिक शब्द है (जो गीता में भी आता है)। 'योग' का अर्थ है जो नहीं है उसे प्राप्त करना, और 'क्षेम' का अर्थ है जो पास है उसकी रक्षा करना। सामान्यतः राजा राजधानी में बैठकर प्रजा का योग-क्षेम करता है। लेकिन यहाँ स्त्रियाँ अपने पतियों को आश्वस्त कर रही हैं कि राम वन में भी राजा का दायित्व निभाएंगे। उन्हें विश्वास है कि राम और सीता वन में भी उनके रक्षक और पालक बने रहेंगे। यह अटूट विश्वास ही उन्हें वन जाने का साहस दे रहा है।
