रामः अपि रात्रि शेषेण तेन एव महद् अन्तरम् ।
जगाम पुरुष व्याघ्रः पितुर् आज्ञाम् अनुस्मरन् ॥ ॥२-४९-१॥
rāmaḥ api rātri śeṣeṇa tena eva mahad antaram । jagāma puruṣa vyāghraḥ pitur ājñām anusmaran ॥ ॥2-49-1॥
Translation
Meanwhile, Rama, the tiger among men, remembering his father's command, covered a great distance during the remainder of that very night.

उधर पुरुष-सिंह (पुरुषव्याघ्र) राम ने भी उस शेष बची हुई रात में ही, पिता की आज्ञा का स्मरण करते हुए, बहुत बड़ी दूरी तय कर ली।
English Commentary
The narrative focus shifts from the grieving city to the resolute prince. Rama is described as Purusha-vyaghra (Tiger among men), emphasizing his strength and determination. While the city sleeps or weeps, he moves forward. The motivation is explicit: pitur ajnam anusmaran (remembering his father's command). He is not driven by anger or fear, but by a steadfast adherence to Dharma. The verse highlights the physical distance he creates to sever the attachment of his subjects, showing his pragmatic approach to the painful separation.

यहाँ दृश्य बदलता है (Scene shift)। एक ओर अयोध्या रो रही है, दूसरी ओर राम अपने कर्तव्य पथ पर तेजी से बढ़ रहे हैं। 'पितुर् आज्ञाम् अनुस्मरन्' (पिता की आज्ञा याद करते हुए) वाक्यांश महत्वपूर्ण है। राम भाग नहीं रहे हैं, बल्कि आज्ञा पालन के लिए उत्सुक हैं। वे जानते हैं कि जितनी जल्दी वे दूर जाएंगे, अयोध्यावासियों का मोह उतना ही कम होगा। 'पुरुषव्याघ्र' विशेषण उनकी मानसिक दृढ़ता को दिखाता है—वे भावनाओं में बहने वाले नहीं, बल्कि कर्तव्य के लिए कठोर निर्णय लेने वाले वीर हैं।
