सन्दिश्य रामं नृपतिः श्वोभाविन्यभिषेचने ।
पुरोहितं समाहूय वसिष्ठमिदमब्रवीत् ॥२-५-१॥
sandiśya rāmaṁ nṛpatiḥ śvobhāvinnyabhiṣecane |
purohitaṁ samāhūya vasiṣṭhamidamabravīt ॥2-5-1॥
Translation
Having instructed Śrī Rāma about the coronation that was to take place tomorrow, the King (Daśaratha) summoned the family priest, Vasiṣṭha, and spoke these words.

श्री राम को कल होने वाले राज्याभिषेक के विषय में आदेश देकर, महाराज (दशरथ) ने पुरोहित वसिष्ठजी को बुलाया और उनसे ये वचन कहे।
English Commentary
This verse marks the beginning of the fifth Sarga of the Ayodhyakanda, initiating a crucial turn in the narrative. After Śrī Rāma returned to his palace in the previous Sarga, King Daśaratha proceeds with the final preparations for the coronation. In this verse, Daśaratha first gives necessary instructions to Śrī Rāma regarding the anointment that was to take place tomorrow ($śvobhāvinnyabhiṣecane$). Then, he summons the family priest, the highly revered Vasiṣṭha. Calling the preceptor and consulting with him before any auspicious ceremony was an integral part of Hindu culture and Rājādharma (kingly duty). Vasiṣṭha was the foremost among the knowers of the Vedas and an ascetic. Daśaratha's act of speaking to him demonstrates his desire to carry out such an important religious and royal ceremony, like the coronation, flawlessly according to the scriptures. In the subsequent verses, Daśaratha will instruct Vasiṣṭha on the ritualistic duties, such as fasting, that Śrī Rāma and Sītā must perform before the coronation.

यह श्लोक अयोध्याकाण्ड के पाँचवें सर्ग का पहला श्लोक है, जो कहानी में एक महत्वपूर्ण मोड़ की शुरुआत करता है। पिछले सर्ग में हमने देखा कि श्री राम अपने महल लौट गए थे। अब, महाराजा दशरथ राज्याभिषेक की तैयारियों को आगे बढ़ा रहे हैं। इस श्लोक में, दशरथजी पहले श्री राम को कल होने वाले अभिषेक (श्वोभाविन्यभिषेचने) के संबंध में आवश्यक निर्देश देकर, फिर अपने कुलगुरु और परम पूजनीय पुरोहित वसिष्ठजी को बुलाते हैं। किसी भी शुभ कार्य से पहले कुलगुरु को बुलाना और उनसे मंत्रणा करना हिन्दू संस्कृति और राजधर्म का एक अभिन्न अंग माना जाता था। वसिष्ठजी वेदज्ञों में श्रेष्ठ और तपस्वी थे। दशरथ का उनसे बात करना यह दर्शाता है कि वे राज्याभिषेक जैसे महत्वपूर्ण धार्मिक और राजसी कार्य को शास्त्रों के अनुसार त्रुटिहीन ढंग से संपन्न करना चाहते थे। अगले श्लोकों में दशरथ जी वसिष्ठजी को वह निर्देश देंगे जो राज्याभिषेक से पूर्व राम और सीता को करने आवश्यक थे, जैसे कि उपवास (व्रत)।
