Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तदा ह्ययोध्यानिलयः सस्त्रीबालाबलो जनः ।
रामाभिषेकमाकाञ्क्षन्नाकाण्क्षदुदयं रवेः ॥२-५-१९॥
tadā hyayodhyānilayaḥ sastrībālabalo janaḥ |
rāmābhiṣekamākāṅkṣannākāṇkṣadudayaṃ raveḥ ॥2-5-19॥
Translation
Indeed, at that time, all the people residing in Ayodhya, including women, children, and the elderly, were so eagerly anticipating Shri Rama's coronation that they were not even wishing for the sunrise. (Meaning, they were impatient for the night to end).

निश्चित रूप से, उस समय अयोध्या नगरी में रहने वाले स्त्री, बालक और वृद्ध सहित सभी लोग श्री राम के राज्याभिषेक की इतनी तीव्र इच्छा कर रहे थे कि वे सूर्य के उदय होने की भी कामना नहीं कर रहे थे। (अर्थात्, रात्रि का अन्त होने की प्रतीक्षा नहीं कर पा रहे थे।)
English Commentary
This verse illustrates the unparalleled and intense enthusiasm of the night preceding the day when the coronation of Shri Rama was scheduled. Maharshi Valmiki vividly portrays the emotions of the citizens of Ayodhya here. 'Sastrībālabalo janaḥ' indicates that the joy and eagerness for the coronation transcended the boundaries of gender or age – women, children, and the elderly were all waiting for this auspicious moment. Their impatience was so great that they were not wishing for the sunrise; this implies that they were waiting so restlessly for the night to pass and the moment of the coronation to arrive that every moment of the night felt like an eternity. They wished for time to accelerate rapidly. This description proves the profound love, faith, and devotion that resided in the hearts of the residents of Ayodhya for Shri Rama, the ideal man, making them utterly restless to see him as their King.
