एवं तं जनसंबाधं राजमार्गं पुरोहितः ।
व्यूहन्निव जनौघं तं शनैराजकुलं ययौ ॥२-५-२१॥
evaṃ taṃ janasaṃbādhaṃ rājamārgaṃ purohitaḥ |
vyūhanniva janaughaṃ taṃ śanairājakulaṃ yayau ॥2-5-21॥
Translation
Thus, the royal priest (Vasishtha), traversing that royal path crowded with people, slowly proceeded towards the royal palace, as if pushing aside the multitude of people.

इस प्रकार उस भीड़-भरे राजमार्ग से पुरोहित (वशिष्ठ जी), उस जनसमूह को मानो हटाते हुए धीरे-धीरे राजमहल की ओर गए।
English Commentary
This verse presents the scene at the moment when important figures of the royal family began moving for the coronation preparations. The main figure here is the 'purohitaḥ,' meaning Maharshi Vasishtha, who was the family priest (Kulaguru) and chief advisor to King Dasharatha. His presence was essential for a religious ceremony like the coronation. The path was 'janasaṃbādhaṃ,' or extremely crowded, as all the citizens of Ayodhya were immersed in the festive spirit as described in the previous verses. Maharshi Vasishtha was proceeding from that crowded 'rājamārgaṃ' (royal path) toward the 'rājakulaṃ' (royal palace). 'Vyūhanniva janaughaṃ taṃ' suggests that he was moving forward as if pushing aside the huge multitude of people, which is indicative of his gravitas and the influence born of his penance, or simply reflects the intensity of the crowd, necessitating him to make his way. The movement 'śanaiḥ' (slowly) reflects his solemnity and the calm, steady mind he possessed regarding the immense responsibility of the coronation.

यह श्लोक उस समय के दृश्य को प्रस्तुत करता है जब राज्याभिषेक की तैयारियों के लिए राजकुल के महत्वपूर्ण व्यक्ति गतिमान हो रहे थे। यहाँ मुख्य पात्र हैं 'पुरोहितः' अर्थात् महर्षि वशिष्ठ, जो राजा दशरथ के कुलगुरु और मुख्य पुरोहित थे। राज्याभिषेक जैसे धार्मिक अनुष्ठान के लिए उनकी उपस्थिति अनिवार्य थी। मार्ग में 'जनसंबाधं' यानी अत्यधिक भीड़ थी, क्योंकि सभी अयोध्यावासी पिछले श्लोकों के अनुसार उत्सव के उत्साह में डूबे हुए थे। महर्षि वशिष्ठ उस भीड़-भरे 'राजमार्गं' से राजमहल ('राजकुलं') की ओर जा रहे थे। 'व्यूहन्निव जनौघं तं' का अर्थ है कि वे उस विशाल जनसमूह को मानो हटाते हुए आगे बढ़ रहे थे, जो उनकी गरिमा और तपस्याजन्य प्रभाव का सूचक है, या यह केवल भीड़ की अधिकता को दर्शाता है जिसके कारण उन्हें रास्ता बनाते हुए चलना पड़ा। 'शनैः' (धीरे-धीरे) चलने का भाव उनकी गंभीरता और राज्याभिषेक के विशाल दायित्व के प्रति उनके शांत व स्थिर मन को प्रकट करता है।
