Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मध्येन मुदितम् स्फीतम् रम्योद्यानसमाकुलम् ।
राज्यम् भोग्यम् नरेन्द्राणाम् ययौ धृतिमताम् वरः ॥ ॥२-५०-११॥
Madhyena muditam sphītam ramya udyāna samākulam |
Rājyam bhogyam narendrāṇām yayau dhṛtimatām varaḥ ॥2-50-11॥
Translation
The best among the steadfast (Rama) passed through the middle of that joyous, prosperous kingdom filled with beautiful gardens, which was worthy of being enjoyed by kings.

धैर्यवानों में श्रेष्ठ (राम) उस आनंदित, समृद्ध और रमणीय उद्यानों से भरे हुए राज्य के बीच से होकर गुजरे, जो बड़े-बड़े राजाओं के भोगने योग्य था।
English Commentary
The contrast is striking: the land is muditam (joyous) and bhogyam (worthy of enjoyment), yet Rama is leaving it. To walk away from such wealth and pleasure without breaking down requires immense inner strength. Hence, the epithet dhṛtimatām varaḥ (best among those with fortitude) is used. Rama travels through the heart of the abundance he is renouncing, yet his resolve remains unshaken. He observes the beauty but does not cling to it.
हिंदी टीका
वाल्मीकि यहाँ राम के लिए 'धृतिमताम् वरः' (धैर्यवानों में श्रेष्ठ) विशेषण का प्रयोग जानबूझकर करते हैं। चारों तरफ 'मुदितम्' (आनंदित) और 'भोग्यम्' (भोगने योग्य) वातावरण है, जो किसी को भी ललचा सकता है। राम के पास यह सब कुछ भोगने का अधिकार था, फिर भी वे इसे त्याग रहे हैं। ऐसे प्रलोभन और हानि के बीच भी विचलित न होना ही उनके परम धैर्य का प्रमाण है। वे सुख के बीच से गुजरते हैं, किन्तु उससे निर्लिप्त रहते हैं।
