Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ततः निषाद अधिपतिम् दृष्ट्वा दूरात् अवस्थितम् ।
सह सौमित्रिणा रामः समागच्चद् गुहेन सः ॥ ॥२-५०-३५॥
Tatah nishada adhipatim drishtva durat avasthitam |
Saha saumitrina Ramah samagacchad Guhena sah ॥2-50-35॥
Translation
Then, seeing the King of Nishadas standing at a distance, Rama, along with Lakshmana (Saumitri), went forward and met with Guha.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब निषादराज को दूर खड़ा देखकर, राम लक्ष्मण के साथ आगे बढ़े और गुह से मिले।
English Commentary
This verse beautifully portrays Rama's humility and lack of ego. Seeing Guha waiting respectfully at a distance, Rama does not wait for Guha to approach his "throne" or seat. Instead, accompanied by Lakshmana, Rama walks forward to meet him. This proactive gesture (samagacchad) bridges the physical and social gap instantly. It demonstrates that Rama values his friendship with the tribal king immensely. He treats Guha with the dignity of an equal, reinforcing the sentiment that Guha is indeed a friend "equal to his own soul."

यह श्लोक राम की विनम्रता और सौजन्य का अद्भुत उदाहरण है। यद्यपि राम 'आर्य' और उच्च कुलीन राजकुमार थे, और गुह एक वनवासी राजा, फिर भी राम ने गुह के पास आने की प्रतीक्षा नहीं की। जैसे ही उन्होंने गुह को दूर खड़े देखा, वे स्वयं लक्ष्मण के साथ चलकर उनसे मिलने (समागच्छद्) आगे बढ़े। यह राम का 'शील' है। वे अपने मित्र को छोटा महसूस नहीं होने देना चाहते थे। राम का यह व्यवहार सिखाता है कि मित्रता और प्रेम में कोई छोटा या बड़ा नहीं होता, और अतिथि या मित्र का स्वागत आगे बढ़कर करना चाहिए।
