ततो रुधिरताम्राक्षो भुजमुद्यम्य दक्षिणम् ।
अश्रुपूर्णमुखो दीनोऽब्रवीज्जानपदम् जनम् ॥ ॥२-५०-४॥
Tato rudhira tāmrākṣo bhujam udyamya dakṣiṇam |
Aśrupūrṇamukho dīno'bravīj jānapadam janam ॥2-50-4॥
Translation
Then, with eyes copper-red (from weeping), his face filled with tears, and feeling distressed, he raised his right arm and spoke to the people of the countryside.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, रोने के कारण लाल नेत्रों वाले, आंसुओं से भरे मुख वाले और दीनभाव से युक्त राम ने अपनी दाहिनी भुजा उठाकर जानपद (गाँव के) लोगों से कहा।
English Commentary
This verse captures a rare moment of visible vulnerability in Rama. The description of his eyes as rudhira tāmrākṣo (copper-red like blood) signifies intense weeping and suppressed emotion. Raising the right arm is a gesture of authority mixed with benediction—he is commanding them to stop following him while simultaneously blessing them. The term dīna (distressed/wretched) suggests that seeing the suffering of his people hurts him more than the loss of the kingdom itself.

यह रामायण के उन दुर्लभ क्षणों में से एक है जहाँ राम का संयम टूटता है और वे मानवीय दुःख का प्रदर्शन करते हैं। 'रुधिरताम्राक्षो' (रक्त के समान लाल आँखें) बताती हैं कि वे बहुत रोए हैं या अत्यधिक मानसिक तनाव में हैं। दाहिनी भुजा उठाना एक साथ दो भावों को दर्शाता है—एक राजा का आदेश (लौट जाओ) और एक प्रियजन का आशीर्वाद। राम 'दीन' (दुखी) हैं, जो दिखाता है कि प्रजा का प्रेम उन्हें कितना विचलित कर रहा है।
