Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अतिक्रान्तम् अतिक्रान्तम् अनवाप्य मनोरथम् ।
राज्ये रामम् अनिक्षिप्य पिता मे विनशिष्यति ॥ ॥२-५१-१९॥
Atikrāntam atikrāntam anavāpya manoratham |
Rājye rāmam anikṣipya pitā me vinaśiṣyati ॥2-51-19॥
Translation
"It is passed, it is passed (too late)"—without attaining his desire, and without having installed Rama in the kingdom, my father will perish.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"समय बीत गया, सब समाप्त हो गया"—अपने इस मनोरथ को पूरा किए बिना, और राम को राज्य पर स्थापित किए बिना, मेरे पिता की मृत्यु हो जाएगी।
English Commentary
Lakshmana voices the poignant regret that will consume King Dasharatha in his final moments. The repetition of Atikrāntam (It is passed/It is too late) emphasizes the finality of the lost opportunity. Dasharatha's Manoratha (cherished desire) was to see Rama on the throne. To die without fulfilling this—without securing the kingdom's future in Rama's hands—is the ultimate failure for him as a King and a father. Lakshmana perceives that his father will die with a heavy heart, burdened by the realization that his greatest dream remained unfulfilled due to the cruel twist of fate.

लक्ष्मण यहाँ राजा दशरथ के सबसे गहरे पछतावे को स्वर दे रहे हैं। 'अतिक्रान्तम् अतिक्रान्तम्' (बीत गया, बीत गया) शब्दों की पुनरावृत्ति उस हताशा को दर्शाती है जब अवसर हाथ से निकल जाता है। दशरथ का एकमात्र 'मनोरथ' (हृदय की इच्छा) राम का राज्याभिषेक देखना था। लक्ष्मण जानते हैं कि राजा इसलिए नहीं मरेंगे कि राम दूर हैं, बल्कि इसलिए मरेंगे कि वे अपना कर्तव्य और सपना पूरा नहीं कर सके। यह एक अधूरी इच्छा के साथ मरने की त्रासदी है। एक पिता और राजा के रूप में अपनी अंतिम जिम्मेदारी पूरी न कर पाने का शूल दशरथ के प्राण ले लेगा।
