Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इयम् तात सुखा शय्या त्वद् अर्थम् उपकल्पिता ।
प्रत्याश्वसिहि साध्व् अस्याम् राज पुत्र यथा सुखम् ॥ ॥२-५१-२॥
iyam tāta sukhā śayyā tvad artham upakalpitā । pratyāśvasihi sādhv asyām rāja putra yathā sukham ॥ ॥2-51-2॥
Translation
"O Dear One, this comfortable bed has been prepared for you. O Prince, please rest upon it properly and comfortably."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे तात (प्यारे)! यह सुखद शैया तुम्हारे लिए तैयार की गई है। हे राजपुत्र! तुम इस पर भली-भांति और सुखपूर्वक विश्राम करो।"
English Commentary
Guha addresses Lakshmana affectionately as Tata (dear one) and urges him to sleep. He has prepared a bed specifically for Lakshmana (tvad artham). Guha struggles to reconcile the image of a Prince (Raja Putra) standing guard in the forest. He offers to take over the burden of vigilance so Lakshmana can rest. This gesture shows that Guha respects Lakshmana's status and physical comfort just as much as Rama's, unwilling to let the younger prince suffer unnecessarily.

गुह का वात्सल्य और आतिथ्य यहाँ उमड़ पड़ता है। वे लक्ष्मण को 'तात' (प्रिय/बेटा) कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, जो आत्मीयता का सूचक है। गुह को लगता है कि राम तो सो गए हैं, लेकिन लक्ष्मण का जागना उनके लिए कष्टकारी है। वे लक्ष्मण को आग्रह करते हैं कि वे सो जाएं और पहरे का काम गुह पर छोड़ दें। यह गुह की 'दास-भावना' है कि वे सेवक (लक्ष्मण) की भी सेवा करना चाहते हैं।
