अपि सत्य प्रतिज्ञेन सार्धम् कुशलिना वयम् ।
निवृत्ते वन वासे अस्मिन्न् अयोध्याम् प्रविशेमहि ॥ ॥२-५१-२५॥
Api satya pratijñena sārdham kuśalinā vayam |
Nivṛtte vana vāse asminn ayodhyām praviśemahi ॥2-51-25॥
Translation
Will we, after this exile is completed, be able to enter Ayodhya safely, accompanied by the one who is true to his promise (Rama)?

क्या हम इस वनवास के समाप्त होने पर, सत्य-प्रतिज्ञ (राम) के साथ सकुशल रहते हुए पुनः अयोध्या में प्रवेश कर सकेंगे?
English Commentary
Lakshmana tries to project his mind fourteen years into the future, seeking solace in the hope of return. He identifies the core condition for their return: Rama is Satya pratijña (bound by truth). They cannot return a day sooner. Lakshmana prays for Kuśala (welfare/safety) throughout this long ordeal. His concern is that despite the dangers of the forest, they should all remain safe to eventually re-enter Ayodhya. It marks a shift from despairing about the past/present to praying for a successful completion of their vow, showing Lakshmana's unwavering dedication to seeing Rama's mission through.

लक्ष्मण यहाँ भविष्य के प्रति आशान्वित होने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। वे राम को 'सत्य प्रतिज्ञेन' कहते हैं, क्योंकि वे जानते हैं कि राम अपनी प्रतिज्ञा पूरी किए बिना एक कदम भी वापस नहीं रखेंगे। लक्ष्मण की प्रार्थना है कि यह कठिन तपस्या निर्विघ्न समाप्त हो। 'कुशलिना' (कुशलता पूर्वक) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है—जंगल में अनेक खतरे हैं, राक्षस हैं और जंगली जानवर हैं। लक्ष्मण की चिंता अपनी सुरक्षा के लिए नहीं, बल्कि राम की सुरक्षा और उनके सुरक्षित राज्याभिषेक के लिए है। यह श्लोक अंधकारमय रात्रि में आशा की एक किरण की तरह है कि अंततः पुनर्मिलन होगा।
