न हि रामात् प्रियतरः मम अस्ति भुवि कश्चन ।
ब्रवीम्य् एतत् अहम् सत्यम् सत्येन एव च ते शपे ॥ ॥२-५१-४॥
na hi rāmāt priyataraḥ mama asti bhuvi kaścana । bravīmy etat aham satyam satyena eva ca te śape ॥ ॥2-51-4॥
Translation
"Indeed, there is no one on this earth dearer to me than Rama. I speak this in truth, and I swear to you by truth itself."

"इस पृथ्वी पर मेरे लिए राम से बढ़कर प्रिय कोई और नहीं है। मैं तुमसे यह सत्य कहता हूँ और सत्य की ही सौगंध खाता हूँ।"
English Commentary
To reassure Lakshmana of his sincerity and dedication, Guha makes a solemn declaration of love. He swears that no one is dearer to him than Rama. By using the words satyam (truth) and shape (oath), he emphasizes that his vigil is driven by supreme affection, not just political duty. He wants Lakshmana to know that Rama's life is as precious to him as it is to Lakshmana, thereby validating his competence to stand guard.

जब गुह को लगा कि शायद लक्ष्मण उनके भरोसे राम को छोड़ने में संकोच कर रहे हैं, तो वे सौगंध खाकर अपने प्रेम का प्रमाण देते हैं। 'न हि रामात् प्रियतरः'—यह भक्ति की पराकाष्ठा है। गुह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि राम की रक्षा वे किसी राजा के डर से नहीं, बल्कि विशुद्ध प्रेम के कारण करेंगे। यह वाक्य रामायण के सबसे प्रसिद्ध भक्ति-सूत्रों में से एक है, जो सिद्ध करता है कि वनवासी गुह का प्रेम किसी भी ज्ञानी या तपस्वी से कम नहीं था।
