ततः कलापान् सम्नह्य खड्गौ बद्ध्वा च धन्विनौ ।
जग्मतुर् येन तौ गन्गाम् सीतया सह राघवौ ॥ ॥२-५२-११॥
Tataḥ kalāpān samnahya khaḍgau baddhvā ca dhanvinau |
Jagmatur yena tau gangām sītayā saha rāghavau ॥2-52-11॥
Translation
Then, having strapped on their quivers, fastened their swords, and wielding their bows, the two Raghavas (Rama and Lakshmana), along with Sita, proceeded towards the Ganga.

इसके बाद तरकश कसकर, तलवारें बाँधकर और हाथ में धनुष धारण करके, दोनों राघव (राम और लक्ष्मण) सीता के साथ उस ओर चले जिधर गंगा थीं।
English Commentary
This verse paints the picture of the trio moving towards the boat. It emphasizes the martial readiness of the brothers. By strapping on quivers (kalāpān) and swords (khaḍgau), and holding their bows (dhanvinau), Rama and Lakshmana signal that they are entering a lawless zone where they must rely on their own strength for protection. The imagery of the two warrior-princes flanking Sita as they walk toward the sacred river is iconic. It marks the physical beginning of their journey into the deep wild, leaving the safety of civilization behind.
