भास्कर उदय कालो अयम् गता भगवती निशा ।
असौ सुकृष्णो विहगः कोकिलः तात कूजति ॥ ॥२-५२-२॥
Bhāskara udaya kālo ayam gatā bhagavatī niśā |
Asau sukṛṣṇo vihagaḥ kokilaḥ tāta kūjati ॥2-52-2॥
Translation
O dear brother, this is the time of sunrise; the holy night has passed. Listen, that black bird, the cuckoo, is singing.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे तात! सूर्योदय का समय हो गया है और पूज्य रात्रि बीत चुकी है। देखो, वह काला पक्षी कोयल (वन में) कूक रहा है।
English Commentary
Rama directs Lakshmana’s attention to the sensory details of the morning. He acknowledges the passing of the "holy" (Bhagavatī) night and the arrival of the sun (Bhāskara). By pointing out the singing cuckoo (Kokila), Rama anchors them in the present moment and the reality of the forest. It shows Rama's equanimity; he is not consumed by the loss of the kingdom but is attuned to the natural rhythm of the day. This is a gentle nudge to Lakshmana to leave the sorrow of the night behind and focus on the immediate beauty and tasks of the day.

राम का प्रकृति प्रेम यहाँ स्पष्ट होता है। वनवास के कष्टों के बीच भी वे प्रकृति के सौंदर्य को अनदेखा नहीं करते। वे लक्ष्मण का ध्यान सूर्योदय और कोयल की आवाज की ओर आकर्षित करते हैं। रात्रि को 'भगवती' (पूजनीय/देवी) कहा गया है, क्योंकि वह विश्राम देती है। राम लक्ष्मण को वास्तविकता में वापस ला रहे हैं—रात का शोक समाप्त हुआ, अब नया दिन है। कोयल की कूक जीवन और आशा का प्रतीक है। राम का यह व्यवहार लक्ष्मण को सांत्वना देने का एक सूक्ष्म तरीका है, उन्हें प्रकृति की निरंतरता दिखाकर शांत करना।
